Trump's DOGE will Hurt, Coming to Your Small Town Soon; Trump's MAGA Voters Have No Clue How They will Feel the Pain (American Issues Take One). The hosts for this show were Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell. The guest was Benjamin Davis.
The discussion was: Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, two billionaires, will determine what areas of the nation's social safety net, to include Social Security (SS), Medicare, and Medicaid will be subjected to large budget cutbacks. Musk has suggested two trillion dollars( out of $6.7 trillion) annual federal spending should be paired back. Ramaswamy has stated in opinion columns that it should be $500 billion in annual expenses. Speculation of where cuts will come from includes the Veterans Administration (health benefits), NOAA, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, student Pell Grant programs, international organization grants, Planned Parenthood, Head Start, and NASA. It's the cuts of Entitlement Programs, SS and Medicare, that big city and small-town America will feel the most impact. To preserve the Trump tax cuts, enacted in his first term, something must give. Lower corporate taxation rates take priority to lower income Americans, to include MAGA families. The panel looks at the impacts to middle America families as DOGE works its way into all fifty states.
The takeaway was: Many voters have little or no idea how the DOGE cuts will impact their monthly budgets. Many families that live paycheck to paycheck will find it much more difficult to pay the bills and keep their noses above water. This discussion does not include the impact of Trump's proposed trade tariffs and rate of inflation, price increases, that is sure to follow. Voter or also known as 'buyer's remorse' may well be the catch phrase of 2025.
