Then, in 2026, back at the Estadio Azteca where it all began, through a storm delay and against Ecuador, Mexico finally won a World Cup knockout game for the first time in 40 years — and buried the curse for good. This is the story of el quinto partido, and the night the ghost was finally exorcised.
